Last night, after a TLC manager was punched in the face while walking home from an off-property 12-step meeting, our management community rallied around. As soon as the word was out, the victim was surrounded by TLC staff. They were there before police arrived.
Two of them drove around the area looking for the assailant. Others stayed with the victim, comforting her and providing support. Although the victim said she was all right, her supervisor insisted that staff members take her to a hospital emergency room and stay with her until she was released. And plans were made for a security team to spend the night outside of her apartment to provide security.
While TLC management has always provided for its staff, it was still refreshing to see the rapid reaction. This is another example of the bond between our staff members – whether long or short term.
While working for TLC will never make anyone wealthy, there is a strong sense of community that makes the job attractive. For many of our staff members – who have no close family ties – TLC is a surrogate family that serves their interests well. Not only do they have employment, but they have a circle of friends and associates who are there for them when times are tough.
That family came together last night.
